We are now looking for an Engineering Manager to lead our Core Technologies Embedded Analytics team within Research & Development.
WHAT WILL YOU DO?
Core Technologies Embedded Analytics are responsible for video analytics algorithms and technology running on our camera platforms. We develop advanced machine learning and image analysis algorithms for network devices to be on the market within two to five years. We deliver a wide range of video analytics functionality at both low and high system levels, aimed at increasing the value of our network products and solutions. This covers all aspects of analytics from traditional computer vision algorithms to deep learning/AI based algorithms. We are also responsible for defining hardware acceleration functionality in our own ASIC chip- Our work also include identification of new technology trends, performing technology roadmapping and acting as a competence center within Axis with regard to analytics.
The team you will lead works in projects covering analytics algorithms and SW from the very early innovative and exploratory phase to the implementation, development and alignment with the receiving product organizations. Our activities result in state of the art solutions and features, and make sure we continue to lead by innovation. The team currently includes 12 members of mixed age and gender, all very focused on their tasks and with significant experience and drive.
Your main tasks will be to:
Lead the team and individuals in their daily activities, make sure we get most out of everyone and that they feel support and respect in and for themselves and their tasks. Make sure we work with state of the art methods for algorithm and SW development. Interact with the receiving product organizations, make sure we understand their requests and they our deliveries, negotiate if needed, and conclude and drive the way forward towards successful products. Identify and setup projects or activities around new tasks and requests, make sure the scope and requirements are clear and that each project has sufficient staffing, planning and efficiency. Develop your team and its members related to both the needs of the company as well as in balance with the needs of every individual. Perform standard management tasks like development talks, salary setting, budgeting, etc.

It is very important for you to know and understand your employees, and you will do whatever it takes to make their situation as good as possible while still getting the most out of your organization. You find it easy to interact with individuals as well as organizations, and can negotiate if needed. You combine the skill of listening with the skill of deciding, and can find a good balance in between the two.
You fulfill the following criteria:
At least a few years of leadership experience as line manager and/or project manager. Background in SW engineering, preferably as developer but also in roles such as scrum master, architect, team leader or similar. Well up to date with modern ways of developing SW, both related to technical matters but also how to efficiently run projects. Fluent in Swedish and English. Last but most important you have a proven successful track record in working with leading and developing people. You have a genuine interest in HR related matters, find it motivating to perform development talks, to find ways to develop your team, etc. As a person you are seen as positive and empathic, combined with the ability to negotiate and take decisions when needed.
