About us
The Digital Health unit works to solve the future healthcare situation connected to Sweden's demographic challenge.

With the power and possibilities of digitization as a common denominator, the unit contributes as an independent innovation partner to the national change work by orchestrating ecosystems for research and development in harmony with business and the public for the greatest possible impact. The unit consists of researchers, specialists and project managers with both deep and broad competence in the areas of digitalisation, healthcare and social care. Description
As a part of its Artificial Intelligence Initiative related to EU projects. RISE invites candidates to apply for postdoctoral position in AI for health. The search is conducted jointly by the RISE digital health department.

We are looking for strong candidates working in a broad set of areas of bioinformatics, including, but not limited to, machine learning, natural language processing, computer vision, and AI for Health. The work will include design of the analysis, data processing, quality control, statistical analysis, data visualization, interpretation and presentation of findings in the form of scientific publications, grant applications and at meetings and conferences.

New appointees are expected to be outstanding scholars and to participate in in client projects associated with our EU partners.

For candidates interested in AI for Health, ample opportunities exist to develop collaborative and translational research projects with Karolinska Institutet and SciLifeLab in Stockholm.

Project description
For Through the program for a digital Europe (DIGITAL), the European Commission wants to increase the efficiency, resilience, and sustainability of the EU's healthcare system, and reduce inequalities in healthcare within the EU. AI and robotics are considered critical areas that need to be developed to achieve this goal. The DIGITAL program is designed to strengthen the EU's core capabilities in artificial intelligence (AI) and is a key driver for the digital transformation of the public and private sectors.

The TEF HEALTH call is part of the European Artificial intelligence (AI) strategy's aim to optimize the development of AI, and to promote trust in, and deployment of, AI-based software and hardware solutions. A critical part of Europe 's ability to execute this strategy is to interface the AI-development needs of SMEs with critical hardware infrastructures, health data and expertise within the health care and health research domains.

Qualifications
Qualified to be employed as a post doctor is one who has obtained a doctorate or has equivalent scientific competence. Previous medical degree experience from any foreign country will be considered as a plus.

We are looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher who shares our passion for translational research, is ready to join our very collaborative team, and is highly motivated to perform computational work.

Absolute Requirements:

- A PhD in the field of Computational Science/biology, or a related field is required.
- Excellent Programming proficiency in R and Python.
- Documented Knowledge of molecular biology , in particular DNA, RNA, and metabolomics.
- Demonstrated skills in omics data analysis, visualization and interpretation, using high-throughput NGS (preferably down to the single-cell level).
- Documented expertise in network analysis.
- Strong interest in pathogenesis of complex human diseases.
- Experience with Linux based high-performance computing.
- Documented knowledge of statistics.
- Good command of spoken and written English.

The candidates should also have good interpersonal skills and the ability to work both independently but also as a part of a large team. In addition, good communication skills are desirable and documented ability to collaborate. Experience with writing scientific papers and grant applications is a merit.
