Background
We seek a laboratory assistant with focus on organic analytical chemistry for chemical analyses of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs), extractable organofluorine (EOF), and chemical oxidation of precursor compounds.
Duties and responsibilities
The laboratory assistant will work in a research environment to support several research projects involving PFASs and EOF as well as chemical oxidation of precursor compounds. One example of projects is the analysis of PFAS and EOF in human blood. Other tasks may include field sampling, sample preparation with ion-pair extraction and solid phase extraction (SPE), handling of liquid chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry and ion chromatography, as well as conducting chemical oxidation reaction. Written documentation of results is also included in the tasks.
Qualifications
The candidate shall have a bachelor's degree in chemistry or have ongoing studies in chemistry with a focus on analytical science. Experiences in human blood analysis of PFAS using LC/MS-MS and combustion ion chromatography (CIC) methods, and chemical oxidation as well as holding a valid Swedish or EU/EEA driving licence are valuable merits.
Close attention will be paid to your personal qualities, your ability to perform duties autonomously, your interpersonal skills and ability to cooperate, as well as your ability to relate to people in a way that inspires trust and confidence.
