hela Sverige The RF Section at the European Spallation Source (ESS) in Lund, Sweden, invites applications for a Technician.
Description of Accelerator Division?
The Radio Frequency (RF) Section in the Accelerator Division works alongside other groups to define, design, install, commission and finally operate and maintain the accelerator RF systems and amplifiers. In total 155 complete RF systems, more than 125 MW, are required to accelerate the beam to full energy.
Main responsibilities
Your main responsibilities will be to assist in the design, specification, procurement and installation of the ESS RF systems, sub-systems and test stands.
• Assist in installation activities of the RF systems and sub-systems.
• Assist with the design, procurement and construction of test benches.
• Carry out acceptance testing of components and subsystems on delivery.
• Assist in the procurement of tools and auxiliary equipment required for installation, maintenance and operation.
• General mechanical, electrical, wiring and installation as required.
• Operation, repair and maintenance of components and systems.
• Monitoring of the performance of the RF systems, calibration and preventative maintenance.
• Support with rack layout, cabling and assembly
• Support with mechanical installation and assembly
• Participation in installation, testing, commissioning and evaluation
• Supervision of contractors and suppliers as required.
Qualifications
You have relevant experience with installation and maintenance of systems with a focus on mechanical activities but with a willingness to work with electronics, cabling, testing and maintenance as required. Knowledge of electronics, RF amplifiers and components is an advantage but not essential as training can be provided. Ideally you have some experience of operating, repairing and preventative maintenance of systems. You pride yourself of the quality of your work and are prepared to take on a range of tasks adopting to priorities and changes as required. The ability and experience of producing documentation such as test reports, writing of procedures and following installation and operation manuals is mandatory.
In addition, skills and experience of the following is an advantage;
• Ability to read and understand electrical schematics for fault finding and repair.
• Basic theoretical and practical knowledge of electronic circuits, electronic racks, cabling and wiring.
• Experience and an aptitude for fault finding and trouble shooting.
• Experience of identifying and procuring components and equipment.
• Knowledge of ESD procedures and tooling to prevent damage in electronic systems.
• Hands-on experience of RF test and measurement equipment including network and spectrum analysers, oscilloscopes, RF power meters and typical RF components.
• Hands-on experience of RF components such as RF couplers, filters, splitters, attenuators, circulators and transmission lines.
• Experience with electrical or mechanical design and CAD tools such as e-plan.

You apply your expertise by using technology to achieve work objectives and deliver results by working in a systematic, methodical and orderly way. When planning and organising your work, you can easily identify and coordinate resources needed to accomplish tasks, and you have the ability to work productively in a pressurised environment.

Duration & Location
The position is permanent with six months initial probationary period. Your work place will be situated in Lund, Sweden. The position is to be filled as soon as possible.
