Our Exciting Opportunity
The Functional System team focuses on defining the radio functionalities, both as a node in Ericsson Radio System (ERS) and internal to the Radio, by systemizing functions for configuration, control, and compensation as well as supervision, report, and protection functions. Our scope spans from operation and maintenance and communication with the digital unit and the antenna system, as well as digging into the HW control system, HW near SW and compensation algorithms. In the team, we work in different technical areas to cover the total radio functionality. We work closely with HW design, SW design and different levels of the test within the whole Product Development Unit (PDU) Radio and towards other PDUs. Interest in conceptual work and systemization is a must, as well as the aim to actively interact with other parts of Ericsson to secure a complete and reliable radio solution.
For this position, we are looking for a new team member who will use analytics and machine learning (ML) to find opportunities that boost our radio products. Therefore, this position is expected to define the role of ML techniques in our radio functionalities, prototype new ideas, and mentor people and organization in the areas of ML and Analytics. Some examples of areas that the candidate will apply ML techniques to systemize new - or improve current - functions are Energy Efficiency, OAM, and Signal Processing, just to mention a few. Moreover, this position will conduct the implementation of a new ML Strategy aimed to transform PDU Radio into a data-drive organization.
You will
• Initiate studies, prototype, probe, investigate, and experiment by utilizing ML techniques in the area of radio functional systemization
• Conduct the implementation of PDU Radio ML Vision and Strategy
• Build networks with other data analytics profiles at Ericsson
• Mentor organization broadly to identify and utilize data in our product development
• Supervise studies within the ML area that will boost our product and make them even more attractive
• Contribute to building ML focus area at PDU Radio through networking, education, initiating and driving forums and Community of Practice (COP)
• Report to the Section Manager Radio Systemization
To be successful in the role you must have
• Masters or PhD degree in Data Science / Electrical Engineering / Engineering Physics / Data communication, or equivalent such as relevant working experience
• Relevant experience (> 3 years) from ML and/or data analytics
• Relevant experience (> 3 years) from Radio Engineering
• Genuine interest in understanding radio technology and product development
• Good knowledge of Python and/or R
• Experience of commercial platforms such as SAS, Tableau, Cloudera and Qlik
You have experience in system development, and you are interested in understanding how it all fits together to ensure an overall good solution. In addition to that, you are able to see the potential of data analytics to truly boost functional solutions. You know how to take complex problems and explain/describe them so that more people can understand and break them down such that solving them becomes straightforward. You are organized and self-motivated and able to turn ideas into concrete solutions. You have an interest in investigating, experimenting, describing the ideas and creating solutions as well as driving constant improvement of the same.
