Responsibilities:
Take ownership of battery cell safety for the entire platform, including evaluating cell safety, specifying required tests, and collaborating with module and cell teams.
Work alongside a team of specialists with world-class knowledge in battery cell technology, characterization, modeling, and simulation.
Support cell selection and development in ongoing projects and product improvements.
Foster a cross-functional network internally and closely collaborate with key suppliers.
Stay informed about competitor activities and advancements in cell design and manufacturing, remaining at the forefront of technology.
Thrive in an open and positive environment, contributing to high-performance teams and developing new ways of working.
Skills:
Synthesize standards and regulatory requirements for cell safety in automotive and stationary ESS applications across key markets.
Develop the Lithium-ion cell abuse test validation DOE for BOL and EOL cells.
Track cell changes during prototype and serial life phases to ensure safety standards are maintained.
Collaborate with battery abuse test teams to design experiments, analyze data, and communicate performance parameters.
Engage closely with cross-functional teams and cell suppliers, driving effective communication and collaboration.
Monitor and plan cell testing, data acquisition, and database organization to meet project milestones.
Contribute to the expansion of testing capabilities and establish a comprehensive documentation system.
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally for supervision, abuse testing, expert committees, and field investigations.
Requirements:
Excellent communication skills and the ability to be the go-to person for cell safety-related matters.
Experience in component development with complex system integration.
Familiarity with OEM or battery cell supplier development processes.
Strong command of English language, both verbal and written.

Hold a MSc or PhD in Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field with a focus on electrochemistry.
Possess a minimum of 5 years of industrial experience, specifically in battery cell safety design and development within the automotive or cell manufacturing industry.
Comfortable working in an Agile environment.
Fluent in English.
