Northvolt has an exciting job offer for a Lead Operating Model to join our passionate team in Stockholm/Västerås.
In joining us you will play an important part from the very start in developing a new generation of large scale European battery factories. To deliver on Northvolt's vision and bold expansion plans we have established the Blueprint team. The team's mission is to deliver a digital factory blueprint of a scalable, rapidly deployable, highly efficient world class battery factory. It constitutes a comprehensive solution with guidelines and tools needed for establishment of the factory spanning process, equipment, materials, facility, utilities and people.
As a Lead Operating Model in the Blueprint team you will guide the work in the Blueprint team and the rest of the organisation by accurately estimating costs & opportunities for current and future Products, Materials, Processes and Factory concepts to ensure cost excellence in the Blueprint. Your assignment is to support the development of optimized design solutions for current and future NV cells, ensuring best in class battery cell cost. You will also support the Northvolt cell factory programs (today NV Ett in Skellefteå and NV Zwei in Salzgitter) to find the most efficient designs & solutions.
To summarize, Blueprint is a highly strategic but also execution oriented and cross functional team which aids Northvolt in our mission to enable the future of energy.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Build tools & methodologies for overall analysis on battery materials and related manufacturing cost
• Support technology development in cell projects, concept development and procurement phases to ensure design-to-cost focus
• Support development of next generation battery cells technical and cost roadmap for both material and process
• Drive development of the next generation Operating Model, as well as related processes, analysis tools and methods
• Facilitate development of competitive battery cost targets for next generation NV battery cells
• Involvement in supplier and internal development discussions supporting the key stakeholders with analysis on cost structure, metrics and potentials
• Sensitivity analysis of process/product parameters cell cost effect (e.g. proposed cathode materials composition, electrode designs and cell sizes)

The role is either based in Stockholm or Västerås, with frequent travels to the other site when needed.

Skills & Requirements
Qualifications/education/experience
• A relevant university degree (B.Sc. / M.Sc. or similar). MSc in Engineering or Chemistry, preferably including business studies, PhD is a plus
• Experience working with cost engineering, analytics and/or in supply chain within a best practice industrial company, as consultant, or MBA
• Strong in structure and analytics, and also interpersonal qualities to nurture acceleration of business, revisit business models
• Experience in working cross-functional
• Knowledge of battery technology is desirable, but not a must
• Knowledge of automotive industry is desirable, but not a must
• Must have worked in multi-cultural environment
• Fluency in English
• Valuable (but not required) if fluency in other languages (German, Swedish, French)
Specific skills :
• Working closely with R&D, Process, Automation, Construction, Procurement, Business Development, Finance you need to have a general understanding of all key functions of an industrial organization whilst possessing an analytical skillset to allow you to dive into detailed problem solving together with subject matter experts
• Good listener but also willing & able to challenge experts in their own field by establishing a solid fact base & apply logical reasoning
• Strong presentation skills: written and oral presentation
• You need to possess leadership qualities and ability to build trust and motivation with key stakeholders to ensure implementation of initiatives
• Understanding of product costing & integration to relevant systems (e.g. ERP) as well as Business Intelligence implementation is a plus
