About the organization
Public Safety and Industries are worldwide modernizing their communication from legacy Land Mobile Radio to Mission Critical Push to Talk (MCPTT) over LTE/5G including several new broadband applications over LTE/5G. All these Mission Critical Applications (MCA) will enable new revenue streams for operators.
In Product Development Group (PDG) MCA we provide a solution that includes Mission Critical Push to Talk (MCPTT) Application Servers and MCPTT Clients. We are just about to launch with major customers and in parallel we plan for the next generation, which will integrate the Ericsson IMS Core into the solution.

The PDG belongs to Product Development Unit (PDU) Converged Core (PDU CC). The key offering under PDU CC is IMS which is the central part of VoLTE and also the base for 5G Voice. The PDU has around 950 employees globally and an additional 450 staff at suppliers. Apart from being a market leader in IMS, the PDU is also developing new offerings related to Enterprise, Entitlement and Device security in collaboration with partners such as Apple, Samsung and Google.

We are now looking for an experienced R&D leader to head the Product Development Group MCA!

Our Exciting Opportunity
As Head of PDG MCA, you will lead a global development unit responsible for the MC PTT solution from early phases to deployment, customer support and maintenance. Development is in Sweden, Spain and India with own staff and suppliers, and you will lead the integration of R&D teams from the company Genaker, recently acquired by Ericsson. Altogether approx. 150 people work with the products.
MCA is a growth area in our portfolio and in addition to design ownership, you will set structures and WoW to support the scaling of the business and operations. Closeness to our key customers is essential and you should expect a tight collaboration with other functions such as solution line, service delivery and customer units.

You will be a member of the PDU leadership team and we expect you to build on the experience from the broader Converged Core organization to make the PDG successful.

You will
Assume the design ownership for MCA
Establish lean and stable structures that support further scaling of the business and operations
Lead and develop a best-in-class R&D organization, that supports e2e flow & superior quality
Continuously drive R&D improvements and challenge status quo
Be responsible for removing team impediments and improving ways of working
Coach and mentor leaders within the organization


To be successful in the role you must have
Experience as Senior R&D leader with proven track record from line and/or program manager roles. Experience as leader of leaders.
Experience as Design owner (experience from early life cycle stages is beneficial)
Business acumen and customer focus with a strong result orientation capabilities
Experience from development based on lean & agile principles and practices
Change leadership skills, with the drive to continuously improve
Ability to collaborate across organizational borders and in a multinational environment
Strong communication skills. Good English language skills in both writing and conversation.
People leadership and coaching skills in line with Ericsson core values.
Ability to multi-task and balance conflicting needs & requirements
