Avalanche Studios Group (ASG) is looking for a Head of Data & Insights to own the data and insights strategy of the entire organization of self-published and externally published games.

As the Head of Data & Insights, you will spearhead our efforts to leverage data across all aspects of our gaming experiences. Your primary focus will be on enhancing our data-centric efforts spanning data science, data lake development, and data engineering. Your knowledge will largely contribute towards the structuring and optimization of our data systems in correlation with our gaming experiences. You should also maintain a keen understanding of user insights and market research.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams from all areas of the business to identify opportunities to grow and support our player communities. Your expertise will drive strategic decisions, enhance player engagement, and fuel game development with actionable data-driven insights.

This is a strategic leadership role requiring strong knowledge of the gaming industry as well as all major methods and tools used to create insights and act upon the results . The successful candidate will have significant experience in a similar leadership role.

What you'll do:

Leadership and Strategy: Provide visionary leadership for the data and insights team. Develop and execute a comprehensive data strategy that aligns with our company's goals and enhances our gaming platforms. Also develop and implement a mission and vision for your team.
Data Science and Analytics: Oversee the design and implementation of analytics models and algorithms to predict trends, user behavior, and game performance.
Data Infrastructure: Direct the development and maintenance of robust data infrastructure, including a data lake with trusted data, to support large-scale data aggregation and analysis. Work with the Avalanche central tech function to make sure that the tools we use are world class and low on maintenance.
Market and Player Insights: Oversee a team of experts in market research and user insights efforts to understand market trends, player needs, and satisfaction drivers. Translate insights into actionable recommendations for game development and marketing strategies. Build and cultivate a proactive insights culture through the usage of a brand tracker and regular internally distributed reports.
User Research: Initiate and expand user research initiatives to better understand player journeys, game interactions and experiences through research methods such as interviews, live usability tests and other studies.
Collaboration and Integration: Work closely with game development teams, publishing, marketing, and executive leadership to ensure that data insights are integrated into all facets of business decision-making and product development.
Team Development: Build and mentor a high-performing team of data scientists, engineers and research professionals. Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning within the team. Hire strong candidates into key roles.
Foster a Test-Driven Culture: Champion a culture of experimentation and testing within the organization, emphasizing the importance of A/B testing and other empirical methods to guide decisions. Encourage the use of data and testing in new initiatives, feature developments, live service games, prototyping and strategy adjustments.

Who you are:

Exceptional leadership experience at a senior level.
Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Math, Computer Science or a related field.
A keen interest in the video game industry and understanding what drives player behavior and motivation.
Experience with big data technologies and data visualization tools.
Demonstrated ability in leading or working with market research and user insight projects.
Excellent English communication skills with the ability to convey complex insights to stakeholders as well as being capable of working effectively with cross-functional teams.
Strategic decision-making abilities.
Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
