Who we are
The first thing you will notice on a car is the exterior with it 's front and rear lighting. The Exterior Lighting is a key communication point for Volvo Cars towards the customers, and this will even increase in the future, due to more advanced technique and styling.
Our team, Rear lighting, belongs to the section Exterior System within Exterior Department and we are taking on the responsibility for development of all the Exterior Rear lighting, Rear lamps/reflex/brake lamps. It is challenging, fun and in we are in constant contact with our Volvo Cars Design.
What will you do
Group Design Leader is the project leader for each Team and are the main interface between the projects and the Team. Responsibilities are to facilitate the team progress towards goals and to lead the Team efforts in continuous improvements. To plan, monitoring and secure the teams deliveries to each project as well as reporting status and deviations from the agreed time, technology and cost frames to project and line management. You will be responsible for summary and report the complete teams deliveries and action plans prior to project gates. You need to be pro-active to secure a good status on all deliveries. The position gives good insight in different areas of the company and a wide circle of contacts.

You and your skills
We believe you have at last 3 years of working experience and completed B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree in Mechanical or other relevant engineering area. You have automotive experience. It is meritorious if you have experiences with leadership and have the ability to step forward.
Your communication skills will have a huge impact on your collaboration and relationship with stakeholders on different level and various connected areas. You are of course fluent in MS Office programs and willing to learn all additional tools needed to perform your job according to expectations. You will be daily using tools like LEQM, Lotus Notes, KDP, VPC-process, CAD/BOM, DPA0. It is a plus if you have basic understanding and knowledge of Catia and TeamCenter.
You need to be fluent in English, verbal and written, however Swedish would be a merit. It is desired to have a driving license "B", valid in Sweden. If you have been in contact with agile set-u is beneficial.
On a personal level
You are energetic, social individual with a good technical background and understanding of the whole product development process. The position requires a social person with open mind and a positive attitude towards daily challenges. You have a good ability to work independently as well as in a large team and network. You like to have things in order, deliver reports on agreed time and have things structured and organized.
You like to solve problems and you are always looking for possibilities and solutions. Besides your great communication skills you need to have an ability to present things in a good and clear way. You possess good leadership skills and have a team spirit. You must be capable of working with many tasks in parallel and within fast changes, why handling a high stress level is an important asset.
