This position will develop strategies to drive improvements in the supply base within the specific commodities (Electronic Components) through development activities including supplier audits, APQP and Quality Improvement Programs etc.
The Global Commodity Quality Manager (GCQM) possesses profound commodity specific knowledge (both technical and quality methodology) to provide guidance, prioritization and commodity specific training/workshops to regional Supplier Development Engineers. The GCQM will work closely with Global Commodity Strategy Manager-Electronics on strategy, supplier qualification and assessments. The GCQM will assist sourcing decisions and provide support on APQP activities on high risk components, as well as monitoring and managing overall supplier performance; leading / supporting supplier development / improvement programs globally.
PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develop supplier development strategies and improvement plans, using available supplier performance data, as well as current and future business requirements that create significant functional and measurable differences.
• Establish / Negotiate Supplier Quality Agreements
• Review supplier manufacturing processes, collaborate with suppliers on process improvement and value enhancement opportunities to ensure zero defect performance.
• Create supplier audit plans, manage supplier assessments and supplier actions plans.
• Knowledge and experience with auditing to the VDA6.3, IATF-16949 and/or ISO-9000 quality standards.
• Diagnose process strengths and weaknesses to ensure zero defect performance.
• Support strategic supply decisions (risk analyses, sourcing council, SWOT, Project planning, gap analyses, etc.).
• Interact and communicate effectively with internal and external customers and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with and support Engineering, Commodity Leaders and Suppliers in support of new supplier launches.
• Drive continuous improvement within the overall supply base and with any single supplier or commodity.
• Work in commodity core teams with other procurement sub functions, e.g. Commodity Managers, Strategic Sourcing Manager, Procurement Product Line Managers, and partnership with other SRI cross functional departments (Engineering, Program Management, Manufacturing etc.)
• Monitor and communicate supplier performance results, manage the supplier corrective action process (internal and external), support Supplier component reviews and new component launches (APQP + Safe Launch Programs).
• Improve regional SD team members' technical knowledge in the metal commodities.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE:
• Bachelor's degree required; engineering background is a plus
• Minimum 5 years of automotive manufacturing experience from quality, procurement, production or engineering
• Lead auditor experience, VDA6.3 lead auditor certification is a plus
• Commodity specific quality requirements and supplier production process knowledge
• Strong analytical and PC skills are essential
• Global experience preferred
• Knowledge in quality tools and auditing
• Strong knowledge of IATF 16949 quality system
• Acknowledged quality assurance and Lead Auditor education according to ISO19011: "Latest Edition"
• Excellent communication skills in English (both verbal and written).
• Strong project management skills
LOCATION AND TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
• Between 20% and 50% travel, domestic and international
