An Environment Perception Domain Architect (DA) is a specialist with deep expertise knowledge and skills within Autonomous Drive (AD) area in general and specifically within the Environment Perception area.
The high level purpose of the mission is to create and maintain AD architecture within the expertise domain, as well as to ensure that the Domain is developed and maintained to fit its purpose at the current state but also aligned to future needs. Additionally, to develop APIs and ensure that the output matches the expectations of other DAs, pilot architects, and system architect.
Taking on this position you will work in an exciting and global working environment, interacting with stakeholders globally. You will have a unique possibility to influence the development of future products and transport solutions within the Volvo Group.
Responsibilities
The DA has the mandate to Approve or dismiss: changes to the Domain architecture requirements on the signals in the Domain API (intended usage), decisions that affect Domain capabilities and capability growth, and Domain level of safety solution.
The DA Synchronize the domain architecture and interfaces with a System Architect, as well as develop APIs between own domain and adjacent domains. Hen also expects to take an active part in the safety analysis for the Domain driven by the Functional Safety team. The DA is expected to understand which areas and signals that are part of the safety assertion and make sure that design and results are traceable, explainable and verifiable.
Further on, the DA will negotiate "contract" between Domains. That is, jointly with other DAs determine what can be expected of a signal or feature in the domain-domain API's. Ensure that the fulfilment of the "promise" to other domains is well known by the other DAs and the pilot architects. E.g., capabilities and their use.
The DA is also excepted to assist developers in structuring the domain into relevant sub-areas, based on purpose, complexity, integrity need and V&V capability. Understand the developer's needs and facilitate their tasks by providing an architecture tailored to meet these needs, and to assure the design is testable.
You will report directly to the Global Technology manager Architecture.
Required competencies & experience
To succeed in this position you have to have a long and broad experience within the automotive product development with focus on AD domain all levels of automation (i.e. both ADAS and full automation), 10 years or more. You also must have an extensive knowledge in all range of perception technology area (e.g. Lidar, Radar, vision, ultra-sonic, etc.) as well as sensor fusion. Key competences are extensive knowledge in System & risk management (dependability and FMEA etc.), Product and Requirement management. Further on functional knowledge, i.e. understand the components role in a distributed system, is a must. You have the ability to drive the concept work by leading teams and identifying solutions in scope and technology.
A condensed version of desired competence and experience profile regarding management areas will look like:
Technology lead position: 10 years
Managerial and/or team lead position: 5 - 10 years' experience from leading small projects
Requirement management: 10+ years' experience.
Domain experience (AD level 1-5): 10+ years
Functional Safety: 5+ years, extensive knowledge in ISO26262 and SOTIF
Product management: 5-10 years, being responsible of a product portfolio or a cluster or components

Minimum Years of Experience Required:
Minimum 20 years of experience in the embedded systems area as well as within the automotive industry
Minimum Education Required:
MSc in in electrical- or computer engineering or similar
