As Director Strategy and Innovation you will drive the Volvo group Technology Strategy and Governance. You will drive innovations from idea generation to market introduction. Responsibility is to identify technologies and opportunities to the truck and transport industry that can improve our customers' performance, create valuable insights and new business opportunities for the Volvo Group. You will play a key role for technology strategy and innovation, Proof of Concepts (POC's), customer pilots with partners and start-ups. The role requires an agile and networked based leadership style, open mindset and passion to deliver value for our customers.
The position reports to the VP Research Technology Office (RTO) and is a member of the same management team.

Key Responsibilities
As Director Innovation your key responsibilities are:*Drive the Volvo Group Technology Strategy
• Drive the Volvo Group Technology Governance
• Consolidate the VG Advanced Engineering plans and deliverables
• Drive VG Innovation capabilities, e.g. through idea management, creativity workshops and facilitation, innovation support and external benchmarking
• Initiate and drive new and emerging technology innovation projects from idea generation to new ventures through e.g. the VG Innovation garage and the "X-hallen" Innovation Hub
• Collaborate with functions within relevant purchasing, commercial and engineering teams within the Volvo Group to enable successful execution
• Collaborate with external partners, both large multinationals as well as start-up 's with the purpose to explore new opportunities for Volvo Group
• Secure hand-over of the innovation results for commercialization at scale
• Deliver technology scouting of new and emerging technologies with high impact to the Volvo Group
• Deliver Technology intelligence based on patent and external literature sources
• Develop the team, the way of working and lead the day to day business
• Be a member of RTO management team

About us
CTO Office is a newly established unit that is instrumental to the Volvo Group in driving research, technology and regulatory agendas and to assure technology partnerships and research collaborations. We are a global support to the Volvo Group Chief Technology Officer operating through internal and external collaborations with the aim to further strengthen the Volvo Group position and competitiveness. Our scope covers:*Drive innovation capabilities and mind-set
• Provide technology scouting
• Define opportunities in sustainable transport solutions utilizing our global presence as trusted thought leaders
• Drive the Group Technology Plan and Technology Strategy including governance
• Coordinate and drive selected strategic Research and Technology Partnerships, including Volvo Group Academic Partner Program (APP)
• Drive framework shaping of large research and innovation funding programs
• Leverage on Volvo Group external partners and public funding initiatives
• Secure Volvo Group positions and advocacy in shaping regulations and policies in areas where society challenges affect our industry and future transport solutions

Competence Profile & Qualifications
To qualify for this role, you should have experience from:*Driving strategic work

• Working with external partners on a global arena
• Taking technology innovation to commercialization
• Passion for developing people, operations and products with proven track record of leading teams
• Building successful, long term trusting relationships
We believe the successful candidate has operational experience from working with technology strategy as well as innovation in a global business environment. Ability to think new, personal credibility, integrity and curiosity are crucial personal characteristics. You have excellent communication and presentation skills. You are a social person with strong relationship capabilities and enjoy working with others in flexible team constellations. You have ability to work in a fast paced, multicultural and diverse environment.
You have a passion for business, technology and an interest in people.

You have a Master's degree or equivalent as the basis for your career. You are fluent in English. International business experience is a merit. The successful candidate will have shown a winning attitude and great persona in combination with a strong track record and references.
