The Director's Office at SIPRI is at the centre of the management of the institute. The Office consists of the Director, the Deputy Director and support staff. The Coordination Officer supports the Institute leadership, including the Chair of the Governing Board, through a combination of document preparation and drafting, administrative and relationship support functions, and specific tasks. The role of the Coordination Officer faces both inward within SIPRI, and outward towards SIPRI's external partners. The Coordination Officer reports to the Head of Director's Office and is part of a team of three colleagues.
The main responsibilities and tasks of the Coordination Officer are to:
• Plan, coordinate and contribute input to a range of formal documents such as reports, policies and other materials related to the institutional management of SIPRI;
• Plan, organise and provide support to events, meetings and visits in which the Chair of the Governing Board, the Director or the Deputy Director are involved;
• Act as administrative focal point for the SIPRI Governing Board;
• Work with the Deputy Director to plan his/her commitments and engagements, and coordinate and support specific projects as assigned by the Deputy Director;
• Take part in the collective life of the Institute.
Experience and qualifications:
• Academic degree, preferably in Social Sciences, Law, Public Policy or a related field;
• 2-3 years of experience in a relevant field, e.g. management support, administrative work or practical logistical matters;
• English and Swedish fluency, excellent written and oral communications skills;
• Good interpersonal skills;
• Professional and service-minded, cooperative and flexible, and able to work independently and as a part of a team;
• Familiarity with SIPRI's research areas is a plus but not a requirement for the position.
