Hays is looking for a

VAT Operations Specialist

The role is at a multinational company of global recognition and with a diversified range of products and services. As a consultant you will be a part of a corporate tax team where you will be providing local and international businesses controllership services focused on VAT and on the processes surrounding VAT reporting. The role provides an opportunity to work in an internationally driven environment where you will provide support on VAT returns filed in the Nordic region.

Main responsibilities

You will work as a part of an in-house VAT team, delivering VAT controllership and related services to businesses registered for VAT in the Nordic region.

In this role you will assist in the delivery of VAT Controllership services to businesses, including investigating VAT treatment on transactions, process and compliance improvements, and delivery of data/returns for submission to local tax authorities.

Other tasks:

Roll-out and maintenance of Businesses on the Corporate VAT/GST Controllership Platform and related modules

Train business users on the use of Corporate VAT Tools

Carry out specific control checks, including audit of VAT account reconciliations and other back-up documentation

Work with Corporate & Business VAT Managers to agree action plans to ensure compliance improvements

Work with the Nordic VAT Operations Manager to track client business progress vs. agreed performance targets and give feedback to the client businesses/users

Work with the Nordic VAT team, to develop and drive best practice in VAT Compliance and associated returns

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have a degree in Finance or equivalent and good knowledge in accounting, or having experience as a VAT professional from Skatteverket or an audit firm

Good working knowledge of VAT and cross-border transaction knowledge

Fluent in English and willing to work in an international environment.
