Driver Eco Coaching (DECO) is an onboard application available for the driver in the Second Information Display (SID) and an offboard desktop application available for the fleet managers in the Back Office System (BOS). DECO assesses the driver's performance on how the vehicle is driven regarding fuel/energy efficient driving and guide the driver on how to improve driving performance on these aspects.
Problem
DECO User Interface (UI) design solution includes today different graphical components e.g., icons, gauges, text notifications, numerical values, different color scales and is distributed between different views. This UI design solution was developed some years ago. From a design graphical structure perspective, the solution doesn 't provide a fast and easy fuel/energy drivability overview.
Solution
We would like to explore the design and development of a more up-to-update and easier understanding DECO UI design solution for our end-users.
Goal of the thesis
The goal of the thesis is to improve today 's DECO UI design solution by presenting a new UI design concept which is up-to-update and it gets the driver an easy and fast drivability overview. This onboard UI design solution needs to be anchored with the offboard application.
Steps to follow for a success thesis work:
Get familiar with DECO onboard/offboard application.
Investigate different DECO UI design solutions from our competitors.
Create UI design concept and anchor the concept with DECO team at Group Trucks Technology (GTT).
Investigate if anchor concept is feasible for web browsers (Microsoft Edge, Apple Safari, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox).
Write Design Requirement Specification (DRS) for the SID application.
