hela Sverige The Utilities & Test Stands Section at the European Spallation Source (ESS) in Lund, Sweden, invites applications for a "Mechanical Technician for Water Cooling Systems" positions.
Description of section
The Utilities & Test Stands Section within the Specialized Technical Services Group works alongside other groups in the Accelerator Division to define, design, install, commission and finally operate and maintain the accelerator cooling water systems, accelerator conventional electrical systems, and test stands at ESS. The group is also responsible for design of water-cooling systems for the Neutron Instruments Division.
Main responsibilities
• Assist and supervise installation of cooling water systems.
• Participate in commissioning, operation and maintenance
• Perform changes and modifications of the cooling water systems
• Assist in writing and improving guidelines and procedures for safe operations
In addition to hands-on work, you will also support the design of cooling systems, communicate with colleagues, consultants and suppliers to ensure safe and timely commissioning and stable operation. Training will be provided as required.
Qualifications
Practical experience from mechanical installation and maintenance of industrial piping systems, e.g. process plants, water treatment plants, or oil & gas industry. Preferably you have had some contact with suppliers of valves, hoses and other process related equipment. Experience from commissioning and operation of cooling water or process systems is also an advantage. Excellent oral and written Swedish and English skills are a prerequisite.
To be successful and perform well in this position you need to be self-motivated and ready to take the initiative. The work requires effective communication and working together with others. You need to have a positive attitude and it is an advantage if you have a broad technical interest and is eager to learn new skills.
Occasional shift work including nights and weekends is expected during commissioning, early operations and maintenance periods. Scheduled on-call service without permanent physical presence at site is foreseen outside business hours in the normal operation phase.

Duration & Location
The position is permanent with six months initial probationary period. Your work place will be situated in Lund, Sweden. The position is to be filled as soon as possible.
