Kungsholmens gymnasium/Stockholms Musikgymnasium is a popular inner-city school with highly motivated students. The school has three sections and this vacancy is within the International Section where all teaching is in English. Many of our students and teachers are native speakers of English and come from a truly international background. Together with students from our Swedish section and Choir section, this makes for a stimulating and refreshing atmosphere of tolerance and understanding within the school. This is in accordance with our vision "Education and Culture for an active participation in a Globalised world".
We also have a very active Student Union with lots of clubs and societies offering a range of extra curricular activities from Debating to Amnesty, and from sports to our Zambia club which supports schooling for students in Lusaka.
1 plats(er). We have a vacancy for a teacher of English and History within the International Section of the school where all teaching is in English. We need applicants to have native speaker level of English.
The job includes teaching of English and History courses within the Natural Science programme and the Social Science programme within the Swedish curriculum and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme.
You would also be mentor for a class of young people offering support with studies and keeping contact with the parents concerning students' progress.
Our teachers work within teams with concurrency of learning and towards the Gymnasium Diploma objectives for the various programmes of study we offer.
You should be a qualified and certified teacher, preferably with Swedish teacher registration.
You should have completed degree level studies in English and History.
You must have native speaker level of English.
Löneform: Månadslön. Individual salaries depending on relevant qualifications and experience.
Anställningsform: Tidsbegränsad.
Krav på arbetslivserfarenhet: Erfarenhet krävs. Experience of teaching English and History in International schools and the IB programme will be a merit.
Experience of working within the Swedish curriculum in English is also a merit.
You should also be accustomed to using 1:1 computers within your teaching and be innovative and interested in developing your approach to the job as a teacher.
Experience of being a mentor to young people is also desirable.
Varaktighet: 6 månader eller längre. This post is a temporary post for the school year 2014/15.
Arbetstid: Dagtid. Working hours according to the teachers agreement. Timetable of teaching hours will be available in August.
