We believe we can achieve our vision by working together with key actors to identify and close the gaps based on reliable and relevant information. Therefore, getting information and strengthening the culture of data use where actual gaps from community to national level can be closed is what we deeply care about.Shifo's solution currently works in The Gambia, Kenya, Uganda and Afghanistan. In these countries, for the first time starting from the year 1960 the Governments agreed to replace these big old registry books with something different that we have created. We designed our product in a way it can work in clinics without electricity, Internet connection and governments are able to sustain it. The solution saves 70% of administration time for health workers compared to the existing system, and still at the end you get reliable and complete data, automatically generated reports and performance indicators, which are delivered to key actors for improved decision-making and actions. In September 2015, Swedish Committee for Afghanistan (SCA), Ministry of Public Health of Afghanistan and Shifo Foundation launched a pilot project in Mehterlam District to implement and evaluate total cost of ownership, efficiency gains, data accuracy of SPT Solution and transfer of work processes from Shifo to local partners. Evaluation of the intervention showed that the intervention simplified the process of child registration, administration during and after health service delivery and generation of accurate and complete monthly reports. As Government of Afghanistan started relying on Smart Paper Technology Solution, Shifo should continue delivering high-quality results and scaling up ongoing initiatives in Afghanistan.
