We are hiring a Senior Statistician to join our Quantitative Biology department in Gothenburg, Sweden. You will join a diverse team of statisticians, bioinformatics and image analysts. Main Duties and Responsibilities
In this position, we expect you to provide statistical support to our research areas. You will work closely with preclinical project teams, especially around biological assay development, optimisation, validation, and data analysis. You will be expected to dedicatedly seek opportunities and influence at all levels, from bench scientists to senior business leaders. In addition, engaging with the external environment via publications and presentations will be a meaningful component of your work.
* Working with drug discovery projects and therapeutic areas to identify and deliver solutions for addressing key biological questions.
* Working with the Translational Sciences and Precision Medicine & Genomics groups to discover and validate biomarkers.
* Building or internalizing, appropriate algorithms and techniques to answer defined biological questions.
* Developing and implementing machine learning models.
* Building knowledge of quantitative biology capabilities across R&D.
* Contributing to and leading local and global projects
* Ensuring that results are scientifically robust and documented.
Essential Requirements
* Strong quantitative background with a PhD in statistics, mathematics, data science, computer science, or similar.
* Broad experience in statistical data analysis, and knowledge of at least some of the following areas: experimental design, linear/nonlinear models, mixed effect models, Bayesian methods, and machine learning/artificial intelligence.
* Programming proficiency and experience with relevant software tools such as R, Shiny, Stan, and/or WinBUGS/JAGS. Knowledge of other languages (e.g. Python, Julia, SAS) is useful (but not required), as is familiarity with tools used by biologists such as Prism, JMP, and Spotfire.
* Excellent consulting, communication, and presentation skills, especially in communicating statistical concepts to non-statisticians.
* A basic understanding of biology
