Take the opportunity to join our Preclinical In Vivo Models team as a Senior Scientist with focus on in vivo Target Validation. You will be located at our vibrant AstraZeneca R&D site in Gothenburg, Sweden. In this role, you will play an important part in our growing Translational Genomics group. We are working in the Discovery Biology department with a common goal to innovate at the interface of science and technology. This to discover new targets, to create reagents, assays and disease models to discover new medicines, and to develop cell and gene therapies.
We continually push the boundaries of science to deliver medicines that treat diseases across our main therapy areas. Through our integration with Alexion, this now includes expanding the limits of scientific research to better understand rare diseases and to discover new life-changing treatments for them.
What you'll do:
In this lab-based in vivo senior scientist role, you will be part of an excellent team responsible for the delivery of target validation data packages using custom made, advanced transgenic mouse models and therapeutic area relevant readouts. You will also get the opportunity to use your innovative thinking to explore and implement new relevant in vivo technologies and readouts.
In the everyday work our in vivo scientists supports the delivery of target validation data packages and further develops the validation methods and assays when needed. You plan, design, implement and analyse data from experiments to generate high quality results to support project decisions and breakthroughs. As well as present the outcome of the target validations to the project teams and in different form of written reports. When possible you will also generate manuscripts and publish new findings.
Essential for the role:
The right candidate for this position is an innovative team member who enjoys collaboration and interacting across our AZ global functions and fields. It is important for you to do the right thing - and this goes hand in hand with your skills with effective problem-solving and strong delivery focus. You should also have;
* Expertise in and passion for working with animal disease models together with a scientific drive
* Experience of performing different physiological tests in rodents to assess for example metabolism and behaviour
* Ph.D. in a relevant discipline or equivalent academic or industrial experience
* Collaborative mentality and great communication skills.
Additional valuable competence:
* Experience in ultrasound imaging in rodents
