Sahlgrenska academy, University of Gothenburg, hosts the training program for dietitians in southern Sweden. The program is four years with admission once per academic year and has about 135 students. After three years, students can obtain registration as dietitans. The program is supervised and examines annually about 40 students and master thesis for about 20 students. Staff at the Department of Internal Medicine and Clinical Nutrition is responsible for most of the teaching in the program. Furthermore, the department participates with lectures and exercises in clinical nutrition in the training of doctors, nurses, midwives, pharmacists, dispensing pharmacists and public health scientists.
Arbetsuppgifter
SUBJECT AREA DESCRIPTION:Dietitians work with people of all ages, both preventive and during disease. Many dietitians work in health care. It is common for dietitian to be part of a team with doctors, nurses, occupational therapists and physiotherapists. The dietitian implements nutrition therapy for patients who for various reasons have to change their diet because of a disease. It can be a cancer patient who needs extra energy-rich diet, or a diabetes patient who needs to change lifestyle by eating more energy efficient and exercise more. Dietitians can also work with preventive health care, for example, in a municipality or a health care center. A task for the dietitian may be to educate and inform on food and nutrition issues. This can be done in cooperation with schools and home services. Some dietitians work in the pharmaceutical and food industries and some work with preventive health care or within sports. jOB ASSIGNMENTS:The position includes responsibility for teaching nutrition on the program for dietitians. Also supervision of thesis in clinical nutrition (both first and second cycle) is included.
Utbildning/Erfarenhet
ELIGIBILITY:PhD degree in nutrition and proven pedagogical skills. ASSESSMENT: First assessment criterion is pedagogical skills and teaching experience and second assessment criterion is scientific skills. Particular emphasis is placed on the applicant's interpersonal skills. Administrative skills is a merit. Experience of teaching and supervision of thesis within the dietician program is an advantage. Experience of supervision of thesis in clinical nutrition is meritous. A all education is performed in Swedish, very good skills in the spoken and written language is needed.
