We are also in the driving seat to drive transformation of our business from a sustainability and digitalization point of view. We capture innovations from our suppliers and contribute to Industry 4.0 challenges.
Who are we?
Our team is part of Volvo Group Purchasing and belongs to the Investment & PIC department. Investment & PIC department represents a yearly spend of 10,3BSEK.
We specialize in Packaging & Industrial Consumables and we are 12 people in the team located in Sweden and France.
You will be based in Skövde (preferred) or Gothenburg, Sweden and you will work with our plants in : Skövde, Köping and Eskilstuna mainly.
In your Segment Leader role, you will interact with all the regions (Europe/US/Brazil etc...) and all the Volvo Group plants in Europe. Therefore, this role requires some occasional travels to mentioned locations and to some of our suppliers.
What will you be doing?
As our Senior Commodity Buyer for Metal Cutting Tools & supplies, you will collaborate with local, regional and global counterparts as well as internal stakeholders in order to get the best possible results for Volvo in terms of Quality, Delivery, Cost, Features, Technology while ensuring Volvo's long-term Sustainability and managing Risks (QDCFTSR). You will also strengthen our competitive advantage by understanding the business needs and the supplier market.
Regarding our suppliers, you will manage and develop our supplier base using categorization, segmentation, continuous performance evaluation. You will also map and identify new suppliers so as to develop new business models and new ways to buy.
You will also :
Manage day to day purchasing activities (orders, price discrepancies, etc...)
Interact as key contact with the stakeholders, mainly in the plants and secure uptime-no production stop
Execute all sourcing activities
Negotiate an optimal cost level for your portfolio and carry out contract negotiations and management
Drive cost reduction ideas generation and TCO. Lead cross functional work with stakeholders to secure implementation of such ideas
Contribute to Europe KPI target fulfillment
As our Segment Leader for Metal Cutting Tools and Welding Equipment, you will :
Develop the segment business plan (strategy) and action plan together with the buyers, as well as key stakeholders to support Volvo's strategic objectives
Lead & animate the global network of buyers, securing synergies & best practice sharing. Actively participate in the strategic line activities
Drive the transformation journey for Metal Cutting Tools and Welding Equipment segments (sustainability/digitalization/partnerships & new business models etc...)

Who are we looking for?
To become our next Senior Commodity Buyer & Segment Leader, we believe you have these qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering or Business Administration
Solid purchasing and/or engineering experience
Fluent in Swedish & English (both written and spoken) is a must
Strong Negotiation skills
Ability to work in cross functional teams
Priority management skills
Experience of working with Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), driving cost improvement opportunities
Business acumen and service mindset
Communication skills and strong interest to develop good collaboration with stakeholders, suppliers, and team
