About the position
We are looking for an experienced researcher to the department of Aquatic resources, SLU Aqua, Institute of coastal research. You will contribute to our work of advising the management and developing knowledge about sustainable use of ecosystems in coastal and marine areas. In particular, you will contribute to the development of ecosystem services analysis, ecosystem modelling and ecosystem-based spatial data analysis

Tasks

You will mainly work with developing tools for ecosystem services analysis and spatial risk analyses, as a basis for the coastal spatial planning and implementation of measures. You will also contribute to method development and analysis in other projects within the department.

Your tasks include collaborating with colleagues and stakeholders for the design of tools, performing data and literature analysis independently and together with colleagues, and contributing to scientific reports and publications. The tasks can change over time according to needs within projects.

Qualifications

You have a strong interest in the marine environment and quantitative analyses. As a person, you are responsible and good at communicating. You enjoy working in a group, but you are also comfortable working independently. You demonstrate capacity for learning new things, working systematically and showing flexibility where required. Personal qualities such as collaborative skills, accuracy, and subject-related expertise, are emphasized and are preferentially exemplified in the application.

Required qualifications:

• Strong insights in marine biology and marine ecological processes
• Strong skills in statistical modelling and spatial data analyses
• Capacity to work with complex data sets
• Strong communication skills in English

Other qualifications counted as an advantage:

• Research experience on Baltic Sea ecosystems
• Expertise of benthic ecosystems
• Expertise on the valuation and quantification of ecosystem services
• Expertise on cumulative impact analysis
• A strong scientific record

Eligibility requirement

PhD in marine biology, physical geography or equivalent subject
