Research performed at the Institute of Neuroscience and Physiology is both pre-clinical and clinical in the areas of neuroscience, rehabilitation, pharmacology, neurophysiology, endocrine physiology and circulation physiology. The scientific work covers molecular and cell biological studies, integrative experimental studies, clinical research and epidemiology. The Department of Physiology is looking for a researcher in the field of neurobiology.
Job assignments
The scientific activities include experimental molecular biology studies and in vivo studies that aim at exploring the neurobiological mechanisms important for food intake related behaviour.
The employee will design and conduct experiments in line with the project objectives. Tasks include planning and implementation of experimental behaviour studies, as well as processing the results statistically and to produce scientific reports. It is expected that the applicant will present the results at international conferences. Additional tasks include teaching and administration.
Qualifications
Applicants must hold a PhD in a relevant subject (eg Pharmacist, Physiology, Pharmacology, Psychology, Neuroscience and Nutrition). Experience in behavioral studies linked to experimental behavioural studies related to appetite control and reward is an advantage. Other relevant experience can include central administration of substances, neuronal tracing and histology/microscopy. In addition, knowledge of molecular biology techniques to explore the changes in gene expression (eg, in situ hybridization, microarray, taqman array) is preferable. The applicant is expected to use English in the research environment.
In the assessment, emphasis will be placed on relevant experience of experimental in vivo studies including central administration as well as studies investigating behaviours linked to appetite, and/or in-depth knowledge in the field of research. References will be taken into account.
Employment
The employment is limited (temporary) for 6 months, full time and is placed at The Institute of Neuroscience and Physiology. Starting date; as agreed.
