The Institute of Biomedicine is involved in both research and education. In both of these areas, we focus on fundamental knowledge of the living cell - what it consists of, how it works, how its function is directed by the genetic material, and how it interacts with various kinds of microorganisms. Using this knowledge, we try to elucidate the causes of diseases, and find new ways to diagnose and treat them. The Institute is composed of the following five departments: . The Department of Infectious Diseases . The Department of Microbiology and Immunology . The Department of Pathology and Genetics . The Department of Clinical Chemistry and Transfusion Medicine . The Department of Medical Biochemistry and Cell Biology At present, the institute has about 350 employees and approximately 290 million SEK in total assets.
Arbetsuppgifter
The successful applicant should pursue research and lead and coordinate current EU-projects within the announced field. The position also includes educational and administrative tasks within the educational programs of the department of biomedicine.
Utbildning/Erfarenhet
The applicant is expected to have extensive documented experience as an independent researcher and to have demonstrated skills in supervising PhD students. The applicant should master modern masspectrometry applied to biological problems and also have experience in handling and developing databases containing structural information about carbohydrates. The applicant should also have external grants supporting the research. Extensive teaching experience from the educational programs at the department is an important merit.
