The condensed-matter group (
http://lnu.se/cmp ) in the Department of Physics and Electrical Engineering at Linnaeus University invites applications for a research assistant (Forskarassistent) in theoretical condensed matter physics.
Context of position
We are looking for a condensed matter theorist with interests in the topological phases of novel Dirac materials. The main purpose of this position is to develop atomistic and first-principles methods to study topological insulator nanostructures, including their magnetic and transport properties, and their spin dynamics. A background encompassing expertise in both many-body physics and computational methods is a strong asset. Max 25% of the time is dedicated to teaching and student supervision at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Basis of assessment The eligibility requirement is a Ph.D. in condensed matter theory or the equivalent. The applicant must have completed his /her Ph.D. studies no more than seven years previous the application deadline. Excellent written and oral communication skills in English are essential.
Other grounds of assessment
• Documented background and experience in the proposed research area (see above) are advantageous
• Demonstrated ability to conduct research within the described area.
• Interpersonal skills and flexibility are of great importance since the work is done in a research group.
The position is initially limited to two years full time with the possibility of a renewal for two more years. Starting date for the position is preferably early fall of 2015. The position is located in Kalmar.
