We are the largest research center within ABB and have a strong competence in technology development supporting the innovation in both power technology and automation areas for the ABB Group. Our multicultural research center consists of approximately 250 scientists from 45 different countries.
Our target is to develop the foundations for the next generation of ABB products and systems. At the department of Power Technologies we work with Power Systems, Power Products and Electrical Machines. The group of Electrical Apparatus and Diagnostics perform core technology development activities within ABB related to products such as breakers, switches, contactors and tap changers.
Do you want to join and strengthen our team as an R&D Scientist? You will get the chance to conduct research in both the area of low voltage, high voltage switching apparatuses and in the area of diagnostics of electrical apparatus such as transformers. You will be provided with the unique opportunity to be part of the whole process, from idea to field installations, and it will be your responsibility to drive the project the whole way through. This role involves ? among other things ? modeling, simulation as well as prototype building and testing. There will be possibilities to create new system solutions and products by challenging existing design rules in power equipment, switchgear and power systems. In doing this you will consider environmental and cost-effective as well as technical aspects.
The successful candidate holds a Ph.D. in Engineering Physics, Electrical Engineering or a M.Sc. together with work experience from a similar area. Fluency in English is a requirement and knowledge in Swedish is meriting. As a person you are a creative team player with knowledge in tools such as Matlab, ACE, PSCAD, SolidWorks and COMSOL. Moreover, you are a proactive and solution oriented person who delivers in a timely and efficient manner. You contribute with your ability to communicate in a multidisciplinary environment.
