You will be part of Product Group HVDC within the Power Grids division. The HVDC technology has been on the market for the past 60 years and is used to transmit power over long distances with minimal losses, using overhead lines, underground and submarine cable systems. www.abb.com/hvdc.The Product Group HVDC is responsible to deliver large turnkey projects globally, service the installed base and provide customer with a highly reliable product/solution.
In this high-impact role you will be part of the HVDC Global Product Group and be accountable for driving process organization development and for the implementation of assigned deliverables of the HVDC Quality & Continuous Improvement function.
Role:
As Quality and Continuous Improvement Manager for the HVDC Global Product Group you will be responsible to lead the quality organization's efforts to support Product Group HVDC to deliver products compliant with customer specification, promoting the process driven organization, and implementing continuous improvement plan for more efficient operations, all this to increase competitiveness through improved quality and lower costs. You will set relevant quality goals and strategy in line with the business unit and product group strategic intent Active member of the management team, you will act as an agent of Quality culture change within the Global Product Group.
Responsibilities:
• Drive Customer focus, quality and competitiveness by promoting continuous improvement and the quality cultural transformation within the organization
• Define and maintain the HVDC business process management and ensure alignment to the HVDC product group Strategy (driving standardisation and global organisational footprint)
• Ensure Quality is embedded and managed within the full value chain of HVDC EPC Project business (Project Quality, Site Quality, Supplier Quality) and for all quality disciplines (QA/QC/CI/QMS)
• Establish and implement Quality and Continuous Improvement governance (Cost avoidance and reduction, Customer satisfaction, Nonconformity management, Top Issues, Six Sigma Improvement Project, Lean Lighthouses etc.) including the review and communication of key indicators to monitor project, product delivery as well as process and people performance
• Identify and prioritize opportunities for improvement and ensure the organization applies the adequate quality tools to deliver sustainable results
• Ensure that the processes and tools are implemented to record and manage non-conforming product and service, including the governance of the nonconformities and customer complaints with their prompt resolution
• Ensure data analysis is performed to identify patterns or potential improvement opportunities
• Ensure the use of adequate Root Cause Analysis for critical to business issues in order to define associated corrective and preventive action plans to eliminate problems
• Ensure quality systems are in place and cover all regulatory, external (e.g. ISO) and internal applicable requirements as well as its integration to PGGI Management System
• Ensure that the key processes are identified, optimized, harmonized and synergized applying Lean tools when relevant
• Ensure global adherence to critical process by defining and implementing a comprehensive audit plan
• Ensure the definition and implementation of a global product group continuous improvement and return of experience/lessons learn processes
• Ensures implementation of sustainable cost savings through Improvement Projects
• Communicate best practices and systematically errors to the management and its organization
• Ensure training and coaching to promote use of quality methodology and tools such as problem resolution process using Six Sigma and waste reduction using LEAN
• Manage Quality and Continuous Improvement community, competency and capability development for all the quality discipline within the organisation, (Quality Assurance and Control, Project Quality, Site Quality, etc)
• Additionally manage quality and continuous improvement within HVDC System Technology
Furthermore, this position will involve business development, visiting our partners in NAM, China and India and playing a vital part in our management team. You will report direct to the Global Product Group Manager of HVDC functionally to BU PGGI Quality and Continuous Improvement Manager.
To succeed in this position, you need to be a senior manager with the drive and skills needed to manage change. Equally important is your interest in both technology and people. This position also puts high demands on you being organized and responsive. Given your confidence - in both yourself and your leadership - you successfully lead and inspire people to deliver quality work.
As a foundation, you hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or Quality. Have Lean and/or Six Sigma certification and application. Track record and proven capability in Change Management, managing internal project/program in large and complex organisation. Proven experience of working alongside and influencing senior leaders of large, complex, organizations. Experience in modern quality concepts such as Total Quality Management, Lean and Six Sigma deployment, Business Processes Management and formal standards for quality and environment (ISO 9001 and ISO 14001). .Experience in process management ideally in product as well as system and project business, preferably in the energy or automation industry, or other quality and process oriented industries. System thinker with capacity to communicate, result oriented, speed in execution, openness and listening to others
Fluency in English is a must, Swedish or another Scandinavian language is qualifying.
