We are now looking for a Publications Manager to lead and develop our team of Publications Coordinators within AstraZeneca IMED. You will join a dynamic team with colleagues based in Gothenburg, Sweden and Alderley Park & Cambridge in UK. The role can be based in Gothenburg or Cambridge.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The IMED Publications Manager will oversee and manage the Publication Sign-Off (PSO) process for the Innovative Medicines and Early Development (IMED) Biotech unit. Through expert knowledge of the e-publication system, the individual will oversee the day-to-day business of PSO ensuring adequate support to the business through the Publication Coordinators and play a central role in resolution of policy and system issues. Furthermore, you will ensure the accuracy of the data in Datavision and lead audit requirements as necessary and be responsible for all publication reporting requirements.



* Provide customer service and training support on the operational aspects and use of the e-publication system to internal and external stakeholders.
* Manage and lead the internal publication review and approval process to meet timelines in the e-publication system.
* Create and maintain quality data records in the e-publication system and manage communications to internal and external customers.
* Lead the implementation of updates, revisions, and maintenance of the e-publication system, including supporting compliance with current AZ policies and publication reporting requirements and monitoring of the e-publication database to ensure accuracy of records.
* Be available in short notice to assist with questions from the Publications Coordinators on policy or procedural ambiguities in executing the e-publication system.
* Promote compliance with established corporate standards and publication-related processes, including reviewing reports to identify publications in violation of internal policies.
* Manage workload of Coordinators mandating the generation of standard and customised publication-related reports from the e-publication system.
* Assist in the interpretation and translation of publication tracking and metrics into presentation-ready tables and figures, as required by the business
* Support publication-related Sunshine Act reporting activities, as required.
* Lead cross-functional and departmental publication-related team meetings, including drafting of minutes and action items.
* Provide training for new department members related to the internal review and approval process and e-publication system, as assigned.
* Contribute to the preparation of publication-related procedural documents including training and reference materials included.



Essential Requirements

* Bachelor's degree (science/health/communications field preferred) or equivalent work experience
* Requires 2+ years of experience working autonomously in a demanding office environment; proficiency working with database systems and generating and optimizing tracking tools and reports essential
* Knowledge of the drug development process.
* High degree of skill in analysing and processing information, time management, organization, data entry and maintaining confidentiality.
* Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
* Ability to work collaboratively, to manage and prioritize multiple projects from conception to completion, working in a fast-paced environment
* Demonstrated flexibility and willingness to adapt to changing deadlines and priorities
* Ability to make effective decisions even in the absence of complete information and when under pressure
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications essential
* Strong customer focus both internal and external



Desirable Requirements

* Relevant pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry/communications experience
* Knowledge of scientific and medical terminology, scientific publication process, and principles of Good Publication Practices/ICMJE guidelines
* Familiarity with budget tracking and travel and expense reporting
* Knowledge of graphics applications, reference database, and publication tracking
* Knowledge of reference database and publication tracking
* Previous management experience
