SIWI Knowledge Services support the achievement of SIWIs vision by providing services to clients worldwide in the area of multi-sector and multi-country water management and development. SIWI supports decision-making processes related to water, sustainable development and land.
SIWI focuses on four strategic themes; Water Related Governance, Transboundary Water Resources Management, Water and Adaptation to Climate Change, Water, Food and Energy Nexus.
This position would focus on the following three areas:
Applied research. SIWI undertakes applied research assignments often together with partners in response to clients needs. SIWIs niche is to apply knowledge and research to solve existing challenges and problems.
Advisory services. SIWI supports public, private and non-governmental clients applying new thinking in water resources management and development for sustainable economic growth through demand driven policy support, development and application of tools such as regional water intelligence analysis.
Capacity building. Capacity Building of institutions, organisations and future decision-makers is a core component for SIWI. Building on the organisations inhouse expertise, SIWIs Capacity Building activities focus primarily on Integrated Water Resources Management IWRM and Transboundary Water Management TWM.
Job description:
• Applied research activities. Undertaking policy research to meet specific client needs often in cooperation with partner organisations.
• Advisory Services activities. Undertake assignments in response to clients needs such as studies, policy briefs, development and application of tools and methodologies.
• Take part in and assist in the development of new Capacity Building components.
• Assist with the implementation and facilitation of capacity building programmes.
• Drafting of internal and external reports, proposals and terms of reference.
• Contribute to development and preparation of marketing materials for Knowledge Services in collaboration with the SIWI communications team.
Qualifications and Competencies:
• An advanced university degree in a field relevant to water resources management and development with 5-10 years experience
• Experience in the development and implementation of Capacity Building, training and education activities, preferably in a field related to water resources management
• Experience working with water governance and IWRM, accountability and transparency experience an advantage.
• Experience working with groups and sectors operating in the field of water management for economic growth and environmental sustainability
• Solid experience in development theory, financial flows and aid issues
• Experience working in an international context with multilateral and bilateral organisations and specifically working in the developing world
• Team player with demonstrated project planning, management and organizational skills, the ability to work simultaneously and independently on a variety of tasks, achieving quality results within tight time frames. Experience from coordination with partner organizations.
• Excellent spoken, written and presentation skills in English, with the ability to speak French, Spanish, Portuguese or Arabic an added advantage.
