That's what we're doing here at Mynewsdesk. And we want more people with awesome skills to join our team!
We're currently looking for a designer with the skills, drive and passion to help us build great web applications with world class UI and UX.
What is it like to work at Mynewsdesk? We take pride in what we do, creating high quality design work and staying on top of trends in the design and frontend community.
We offer a workplace where you will be working in a small team, usually around five people, including developers, a designer and a product owner. All teams have their own areas of responsibility but are working together towards a common goal and an overall vision for the whole product team.
The teams use the Scrum or Kanban methodology and even though we have separate teams we share our knowledge and interests in cross-team chapter meetings, internal conferences and lunch presentations. We love to learn and that's why we have regular lab days, run a maker space as well as hosting and attending conferences.
What do we expect from you?As a product designer at Mynewsdesk you're responsible for designing and improving our digital newsrooms, the interface behind the newsrooms and for increasing the value for our users. You work close to the POs from the first brainstorming session all the way through the wireframe phase, creating user flows, and in the end deliver pixel perfect designs and fine tuning everything with a front end developer. You understand the need for a coherent graphical impression and strive to keep your work synchronised with other designers. You're used to manage your own work process, while at the same time being a team player.
You have at least 2 years experience working as a digital product designer at a web product or SaaS company and you have knowledge of working with guidelines and constraints. Longer experience is welcomed.
We expect you to be very familiar with Sketch. It is part of our everyday work, coupled with wireframing software like Balsamiq and Invision for prototyping. If you have any other tools you prefer to use in the process we're open to discuss implementing those as well.
You've got a good eye for detail, and you work proactively to solve our users' problems and to find innovative solutions. You have a great understanding of design fundamentals like margins, typography, grids and you're used to design for different screen resolutions and take use of the browser capabilities and frameworks to the full extent.
You're not afraid to take initiative and you're hungry to learn more. We are an open organization and we take pride in our openness. That means we give each other feedback and we try to learn from each other. If you feel you can teach us something, don't hesitate to arrange a lunch learning and present your knowledge.
