The importance of Transmission department has grown driven by a number of opportunities within the area contributing to a reduction of fuel consumption. We are working intensively with our system suppliers to find additional efficiency potentials and develop current products to deliver what is needed. New components are added within the hybridisation area. The Driveline section within the department is responsible for half shafts, for the AWD-system and its components. The gearbox and delivery unit of the complete electrical rear axle is a growing component area. The section is responsible for defining the system requirements and develop the components in close cooperation with the suppliers. A large portion of our work consists of communicating with the most knowledgeable suppliers to reassure we develop the best solutions for our future cars.
As a Product Manager you are responsible for developing technical solutions and documents that describes the systems and components, or review solutions developed by supplier. You will be responsible for a broad span of job assignments and develop a comprehensive view of the technology and different car projects. You are going to have a cross functional role and establish relationships with representatives from many areas of the vehicle meaning and therefore build and maintain a wide personal network within Volvo Car Group and suppliers. As part of our team and the Transmission Department, you will get access to a long term development and the possibility to take on increased responsibilities.
Main responsibilities
• Drive the development of components in close cooperation with system suppliers in the Industrialisation phases
• Manage a continuous improvement work including resolution of quality tasks and cost reduction activities
• Transfer of knowledge to Design Guidelines, Design Prerequisites and Technical Regulations
Required qualifications
• B.Sc. or higher in mechanical engineering or equivalent
• Experience in, and a genuine interest in product development within the mechanical area
• 3-5 years of experience within automotive manufacturing and/or mechanical engineering
• Experience in design work in Catia V5 or similar is meritorious, as well as design for Six Sigma
• Documented leadership qualities
• Proven coordination / project management skills
• Analytical skills and planning experience
• Fluent in English written and spoken
