As a Powertrain Engineer, you'll be at the helm of innovation, guiding the development of systems and components alongside a dedicated team. Your role will be pivotal in shaping the specifications for components and systems in collaboration with Chief Engineers and the Powertrain and Hydraulics Manager. In creating robust development plans, you'll ensure our products surpass customer demands, safety requirements, and internal standards for our Mobile Equipment products.

Main tasks and responsibilities
As a Powertrain Engineer, you will foster cooperation between ME Powertrain and Hydraulics and Sourcing and Operations. You will regularly report to the responsible Powertrain and Hydraulics Manager regarding outcomes and possible deviations. Making choices on design solutions, material, and components according to customer demands will also fall under your responsibility. In consultation with the responsible Powertrain and Hydraulics Manager, you will purchase components for tests and evaluations, perform customer and supplier visits, and initiate and order testing for verification and evaluation of a design.
Coordination is key in this role, and you will synchronize components and system design between ME products and align with the group's way of working regarding components and used systems. You will also take on contact responsibility for service, production, and supplier issues, check and approve purchase drawings regarding standards. Planning and performing activities according to specified requirements and time schedules in consultation with the responsible Powertrain and Hydraulics Manager will be a significant part of your role.
What you'll need to succeed
To succeed in this role, you will need a B.Sc or M.Sc. degree within a relevant field or similar knowledge through experience. Solid technical knowledge regarding non-road mobile machinery or similar rubber tire vehicles is essential, as is experience of product development activities within mechanical engineering. If you have previous experience in similar roles, it will be beneficial.
Key competencies for this role include a business and market mindset with a strong focus on customer needs. Excellent communication skills, proficiency in engineering tools for design used by Kalmar, and analytical and structural ability are also crucial. A driving force and result orientation, problem-solving skills, a positive attitude, and fluency in English, both in speaking and writing, are also required.
