hela Sverige The School of Medical sciences at Örebro University is seeking a postdoctoral researcher in immunology for a fixed-term appointment.

Background
Peripheral arterial disease (PAD) is a common manifestation of atherosclerosis, affecting arteries in the leg, and is highly prevalent in the elderly population. Increasing evidence suggests that gut microbiota and gut microbe-derived dietary metabolite trimethylamine N-oxide (TMAO) from certain diet is associated with the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis in cardiovascular disease, however their role in pathogenesis of peripheral arterial disease is unknown. Despite its high prevalence (20% in over 60 year of age in Sweden), PAD remains poorly diagnosed and receives less attention in scientific literature compared to coronary artery disease. With support from the Knowledge Foundation, Örebro University together with business community is investing in a clinical research study aimed to investigate interactions between gut microbiota, diet metabolite and inflammation in peripheral arterial disease.
The position is part of a strong research environment, Cardiovascular research centre (CVRC) at Örebro University (

The main aims of the research environment are to significantly strengthen the cardiovascular research through genuine translational research and collaboration between basic and clinical scientists at Örebro University and Örebro University Hospital, and to create unique multidisciplinary projects in the field of cardiovascular research.

The position is a full-time position for a fixed term of two years. The position starts from 1st May 2021. The salary depends on the successful candidate's qualifications and experience.
