The project:

We seek two outstanding researchers to work on the computational analyses of a large-scale single-cell transcriptome project on metabolic tissues (liver, heart, kidney and vasculature). In this project we will generate "molecular encyclopedias" of these organs in order to understand the molecular principles of normal organ development, function and pathogenesis at a previously unprecedented level, using state-of-the-art RNA-seq and bioinformatics technologies. For this project, which offers direct collaboration with the Pharma Industry (AstraZeneca), we seek two postdoctoral research fellows with expertise in computational analyses of RNA-seq data and OMICS data.                                         

The positions are a 2 years full time contract with a possibility of 2 years extension.

Position-specific requirements:

The postdoctoral fellows in computational analyses of single-cell RNA-seq data should have a strong background in genome-wide bioinformatics, programming and linux environment. Previous experience with RNA-seq data analyses is required and additional experience with single-cell data, post-transcriptional gene regulation (e.g. splicing) or machine learning is meriting.

General requirements:

A person is eligible for a position as postdoctoral research fellow if he or she has obtained a PhD no more than seven years before the last date of employment as postdoc. The successful applicants must have the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a group and have good English communication skills.

Location:

ICMC is a research collaboration between Karolinska Institutet and AstraZeneca, and ICMC is located at the Dept Medicine, Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, Sweden. The postdoctoral fellows in bioinformatics and RNA-seq technology will be located at the Dept Cell Mol Biol, Karolinska Institutet.

• Verification from the thesis defence committee or the equivalent (only if the thesis defence is scheduled within three months after the application deadline)
