Your work assignments
The PhD position is part of the interdisciplinary project "Nuclear natures". The purpose of the project is to explore how three phases of nuclear energy production (operating power plants, decommissioning, and handling of waste) create and impact surrounding environments. The aim is to articulate nuclear natures as an analytical category and as a common societal concern for just and livable places in the present as well as in the future. The PhD student will work in a sub-project that focuses on nuclear natures in relation to long-term storage of radioactive waste, based on the ongoing construction of such a storage in Finland, Onkalo. Other sub-projects focus on nuclear natures in relation to an operating nuclear power plant in Sweden, and in relation to a decommissioning nuclear power plant in Germany
As a doctoral student, you devote most of your time to doctoral studies and the research projects of which you are part. Your work may also include teaching or other departmental duties, up to a maximum of 20% of full-time.
