Project Description
We are searching for a suitably qualified person to begin a PhD within a research group studying the genetic and molecular mechanisms by which pathogenic Yersinia bacteria control the expression of virulence associated properties. The PhD project will involve elucidating how two-component phosphorelay systems might contribute to these processes of virulence gene expression control.
Methods you could expect to use in the project include: 1) Recombinant DNA techniques for gene cloning and disruption, 2) Assays to measure promoter activity (qRT-PCR, reporter gene fusions etc), 3) Assays to document protein-protein and protein-nucleic acid interactions, 4) protein analysis with SDS-PAGE and immunoblotting, 5) non-mammalian infection models for physiological testing of bacteria.
