The arena

Information Strategy, Systems and Analytics (ISSA) as a part of Global Regulatory Affairs, Patient Safety and Quality Assurance function (GRAPSQA) has a special role in the development of medicines and in ensuring AstraZenecas license to operate by developing, maintaining, implementing, and continuously improving processes and standards related to the handling, exploitation and timely reporting of safety information, as required by regulatory authorities worldwide. The strategic goals of ISSA require a portfolio of information assets, systems and related expertise to be managed in line with an overall safety information strategy, to address the business needs of the Patient Safety organisation, its partners and customers.

The role

The Senior Scientist role within GRAPSQA Information Strategy, Systems and Analytics (ISSA), will work with the Lead for Safety Analytics to provide technical input across a defined area of the global portfolio of Patient Safety information and systems assets. The jobholder has generic accountabilities and responsibilities which are common amongst their peers, as well as, responsibilities specific to the evolving Patient Safety Analytics area within AstraZeneca. He / She will work with the Safety Analytics Lead to support innovative project portfolio development across analytical and visualization tools. It is expected they will aid the Safety Analytics Lead in the identification and deployment of solutions focused on addressing business needs across the Patient Safety Analytics area.
The jobholder will support the design, development, implementation, continuous improvement, and/or optimal utilization of an area of safety analytics assets. The individual will work in a deployed relationship with the Safety Analytics Lead to provide technical input on Analytics projects utilizing analytical and visualization tools to meet business, partner and customer needs. The jobholder will have an understanding of how current and future components of the information and systems portfolio, relevant to Safety Analytics, can be developed to ensure optimal benefit for the user community across Patient Safety (including AZ Clinical and Late Development Safety Teams) and wider business groups. This can include innovative solutions that: support current and future Patient Safety capabilities; enable Patient Safety to deliver or integrate scientific information and knowledge more effectively; or, ensure regulatory compliance is delivered in a more effective and/or cost-efficient manner.
