hela Sverige Visa alla jobb hos Xenofilia AB i Malmö Xenofilia/Botildenborg is looking for an experienced and knowledgeable Farm Director with a strong work ethics and entrepreneurial spirit to design, build and operate a bio-intensive urban farm to serve as an educational model for Stadsbruk.
Mission and Vision:
The Stadsbruk Market garden not only will demonstrate how a highly productive micro farm can provide quality herbs and vegetables for a small community, but also how profitable profitable it can be. This farm model, as an educational platform, aims to host volunteers and interns from all ethnic backgrounds with the goal of empowering them to build social and experiential capital through sustainable food production.
The Key Responsibilities As The Farm Director:
Design and setup all necessary farm infrastructure including:
• plots and beds for cultivation,
• nursery greenhouse for seedlings and microgreens production
• Cold tunnels for season extension
• irrigation
• post harvest and tools' shed areas
Perform all activities related to the production including:
• Crop planning and implementation
• Propagation and Planting
• Crops and nutrients management
• Weed and pest management
• Crop harvest, washing, packing and processing
Manage all day-to-day farm operation by:
• Developing and implementing the production plan and keeping it updated
• Developing and maintaining a detailed task and time management plan
• Ensuring the efficiency of the whole farm operation
• Budget planning, accounting and record keeping
• Oversee costs, inputs and outputs; maintain inventories
• Marketing, sales and customer relations
• Commercialization of vegetables for Botildenborg's Kitchen
• Commercialization of the vegetables for the food baskets
• Order preparation and delivery;
• Recruiting and supervising volunteers and interns throughout the season
The Key Responsibilities As An Educator:
• designing, implementing and teaching urban farming courses
• conducting monthly workshops and lectures
• hosting a small team of volunteers 2 days/week throughout the season
• communicating effectively with people of all backgrounds and abilities to ensure equal opportunities are created for them to get involved in the day-to-day activities
• Coordinating and hosting farm visits and tours
Professional Qualifications:
• Extensive theoretical and working knowledge in:
• organic agriculture practices (crop planning, rotations, management and etc.)
• bio-intensive farm layouts, infrastructure and workflow
• profitable urban farming and market gardening business models
• Minimum 1 year of work experience at a well known educational farm
• Minimum 2 years of experience managing an urban farm
• Experienced in all year round indoor production of Microgreens
• Ability to install and maintain basic farm infrastructure
• Strong working experience in operating small farm tools and machinery
• Hold a certification in organic agriculture from a known agricultural university
• Proficient with computers, mobile devices, commonly used software & social media
Personal Qualifications:
• Passionate about sustainable food production and urban agriculture
• Demonstrate a strong entrepreneurial and business management skills
• Strong ability to work independently, take initiative, set goals and priorities
• Ability to efficiently schedule, execute and manage tasks in a timely manner
• Interested in interacting with volunteers and staff of varied ages and backgrounds
• Ability to be open and flexible to new ways of working with diverse communities.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational and leadership skills
• Proven ability in teaching and mentorship
• Creative skills and ability to experiment to attain new strategies, improve systems, and find solutions to challenges.
• Self-motivated and able to motivate others as well
• The ability to manage and supervise a team and manage conflict and stress
• Mental and physical capacity for working under stress and variable weather conditions
• Being a multicultural and multilingual is a strong asset
