AstraZeneca is now looking to hire a New Product Introduction Director for inhalation devices. The role sits within the Pharmaceutical Technology & Development (PT&D) Function.
The PT&D organization is responsible for drug product design, development and technical support for drug substance and products throughout the life cycle. Inhalation product Development is responsible for all elements of development and ongoing support of AstraZeneca's inhalation portfolio of pMDI, DPI, pump spray and nebuliser based devices.
As New Product Introduction Director for Inhalation Devices you will initiate and support delivery of the Manufacture and Supply Stream on the AstraZeneca Device Framework for all inhalation devices.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
As New Product Introduction Director for Inhalation Devices you will act as Device Industrialisation Lead for new device projects. You will form a team that is responsible for device industrialisation from Device Manufacturing, concept development and through the commercial launch and supply. Your work will include establishing the relationship with other Leads and Operations supply sites, ensure manufacturability (of a robust device) and to optimise supply through the lifecycle and optimised as the device and associated products move through development, launch and into commercial supply, be responsible for ensuring right resources and capabilities are in place to successfully industrialise and launch new inhalation products and aligning any new device with the appropriate formulation technology.
You will act as "point of contact" for both Device Development Teams interacting with customers in Operations and vice versa and Business Process Owner for (inhalation) Device Manufacture and Supply business processes.
You will provision of technical expertise and leadership to guide device development and industrialisation. Evaluate existing inhalation device performance via customer feedback on devices including establishing metrics and targets through development and then trending and analysing the patient experience and customer complaints and establishing metrics and targets for Continued Process Verification for device manufacture and during product manufacture.
You will lead and develop team members to build a simplified and holistic approach to inhalation device product development and industrialisation. Build and develop a cross-functional team with inhalation device expertise.
Essential Requirements
• Strong team leadership & line management
• Effective Portfolio Management
• Ideally of graduate status, with significant pharmaceutical manufacturing experience or equivalent.
• Significant experience of working with global sites and external suppliers
• Significant experience of working with projects and program management
• Business, financial and supply chain understanding/ awareness
• Safety Health Environment, Good Manufactuirng Practice and regulatory management knowledge
• Lean manufacturing principles, understanding, experience and practitioner
• High level of professional and effective interactive communication skills required.
• Excellent team working and networking skills and ability to engage relevant AstraZeneca staff and senior management in new initiatives. Understand interrelationships between groups and an ability to influence across geographical and functional boundaries.
• Have previous experience and training in Lean and six sigma, problem solving tools and have experience in data analysis and interpretation.
• Excellent understanding of the overall drug development and commercialization process from development, launch and through life cycle management and how to apply Quality by Design principle
• Have understanding of inhalation platforms and interaction with related DPI and pMDI formulation and technology platforms
• Experience in or exposure to multiple disciplines in CMC and related functions (eg GPD, Operations, Global Supply, Marketing Companies)
