About the position

Massive is looking for an experienced narrative designer to join the Tom Clancy?s The Division development team.

In this position you will work closely with other designers and writers to create missions, scenarios and other story-focused content for the game. You will also design storytelling tools to create a compelling narrative in many different forms.

Responsibilities

Work under the guidance of the Lead Content Designer to create compelling narrative and gameplay experiences.
Realize the game?s narrative by writing lore in various forms and turning it into playable content.
Work with game designers to design storytelling tools.
Work with sound designers and artists to create cinematic sequences.
Work with level design to realize the content in the game world.
Write and maintain documentation.
You as a candidate

You are a creative and passionate writer and designer with a deep understanding of narrative, immersion and fun gameplay. You are goal-oriented and a great collaborator who puts quality first. You have a strong design process and can drive design tasks independently. You have a feel for the strengths and constraints of games, and are familiar with the conventions and style of the Tom Clancy franchise. You are intrigued by the potential of games as a storytelling medium and like to push the boundaries beyond conventional narrative. You love to innovate and explore uncharted territories. You appreciate emergent player stories to the same extent as solitary story games. You love games as much as novelists love books and playwrights love the stage.

Required skills and experience

Minimum 5 years in the industry or shipped at least one AAA title
Absolute passion for playing and making games
Extremely quality oriented
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent understanding of what makes games fun and compelling
Strong teamwork skills
Confident in using Microsoft Office and Adobe Photoshop
Confident in learning and using new tools
Additional skills

English mother tongue
Published fiction in any format (e.g. novels, short stories, comics, screenplays)
Experience developing third-person action games
Experience of basic scripting principles
