General:
Product Platform Hauler has a global responsibility for the complete articulated haulers including quality, cost and feature level. This includes for example specification of product targets, concept evaluation and selection, new functionality development, specification and follows up of sub system requirements to meet product targets.
The Hauler Platform is facing many new challenges and therefore we need to strengthen our department with an additional Manager Product Improvement to be able to meet these challenges.
As Manager Product Improvement for haulers you manage a team of engineers to improve the machines we have in production (Zone 1 support) as well as OEM business (Zone 3 business), customizing and Cost Reduction.
The position includes identifying and pro-actively managing relevant commercial, industrial, technical and organisational issues in the projects. Manage the cross-functional Product Improvement Project Team and make decisions according to project authorities. Report project status and alert relevant issues/deviations to Steering Committee. Work closely to Zone 3 business development.
Core Responsibilities:
Execute Product Improvement projects from Feasibility Study to End Gate in accordance with GDP (Global Development Process)
Deliver products in accordance with decided targets
Manage Product Improvement Project Teams
Report on Product Improvement budget and project status to appropriate decision / approval forums
Establish main time schedules, and yet manage the Hauler Product Improvement portfolio in a flexible manner to secure that we deliver the prioritized projects first with the aligned engineering resources
Establish required routines and decision-making processes within the project
Identify main risks and establish mitigation plan/activities
Display and secure project progress
Arrange meetings/reviews with relevant reference groups
Establish project assessments and status reporting
Required Competencies:
Experience from project management within extensive projects
Strong leadership skills
Holistic approach. Ability to identify and deliver solutions securing profitability from an overall enterprise perspective
Good knowledge about Volvo GDP (Global Development Process) or experience from similar project processes
Experience from Product Development
Good communication skills
Excellent spoken and written English
Experience in managing staff
Knowledge and experience of Hauler product is beneficial
Minimum Years of Experience Required:
3+ years of experience within Engineering and from leader /managerial position
Minimum Education Required:
University degree in Engineering or similar
