Job description
AFRY has for many years successfully supported both Swedish and international energy producers, and we are now investing in further expansion in this exciting market! Hydropower in Sweden is under development, as we move towards a power system with 100% fossil-free power production. In addition to this, intensive work is underway to renegotiate all water judgments for all hydropower dams. With over 500 hydropower engineers, AFRY is one of the world's largest consulting companies in hydropower and we want to be involved in driving development in the area. In Sweden, we are about 80 working with hydropower. As part of our NAP initiative, a merger was carried out in 2021 with EKOM, specialists in freshwater ecology & experts in the NAP process.

https://afry.com/sv/omrade/vattenkraftIn the section flow analysis and environmental adaptation, 12 consultants now work with issues related to hydropower's challenges in this area. The employees in the section have between 2 and 25 years of experience and have an even gender distribution and are spread over large parts of the country. The section is now looking for new employees to be able to handle the demand from our customers.
The position involves a job as a hydraulic consultant within the section. The section works broadly with all flow and environmental issues in hydropower. Examples of this can be investigations of dam safety linked to flow issues, applications for new modern environmental conditions for hydropower or adaptation of construction measures for the best possible ecological benefit.
This service is focused on flow-related issues in hydropower and can touch on discharge calculations, flow analysis and simulation, dam fault simulation, flow dimensioning, flood mapping and other GIS analysis, siphon / pipe flow calculations, implementation of sampling / swell tests.
Site visits and measurements occur regularly at work. The work is carried out in close collaboration with other consultants within the group and our projects are often multidisciplinary.
Possible location in the following locations: Uppsala, Falun, Gothenburg, Umeå, Östersund or Luleå.
Requirements specification
As a person, you are humble, flexible, driven and committed. You have the ability to work on several projects at the same time and are both structured and analytical. We are looking for a person who likes cooperation, is communicative and is happy to take responsibility.
We are looking for you who have worked for more than 3 years in a relevant field. You are educated in a suitable engineering area and preferably have a background in hydropower with an understanding of the role of hydropower in Sweden's energy system. Furthermore, you have previously worked with most of the examples listed above and are confident in working independently in projects.
