Group manager Aftertreatment & Combustion OBD

Are you looking for a position where you can develop your leading skills, as well as building a network that includes people from many areas in the company? Then working as an acting Group manager on the Powertrain OBD and Dependability section is the place for you to prosper.

The section Powertrain On-Board Diagnostocs (OBD) and Dependability, within Powertrain Controls & Calibration, has the mission to ensure that the development of the next generation engines reflects our brand essence of 'Designed Around You' and that all legal and customer attributes regarding OBD and Powertrain dependability is met. All activities aim to deliver world class OBD and dependability. Currently the section includes approximately 100 employees, organized in eight groups.

The group Aftertreatment & Combustion OBD is responsible for OBD monitors for misfire, catalyst, SCR, NOX absorber, DPF / GPF for both petrol and diesel engines. The deliveries covers the hole time frame from legal interpretation, creation monitoring concept, deliver software, calibration and validation down to follow up the field status. The group consist of roughly 17 highly motivated engineers. We apply highest standard when it comes to minimize customer impact, focus on robust system design is therefore crucial.

As Group Manager- Aftertreatment & Combustion OBD you will work with competence development of employees, both in short and long lead time, to secure project deliveries. You are also responsible for develop and implement the group technical strategy. 2017 will be very exiting year for the whole section. We have many interesting car projects a head and we will also focusing on finding new efficient calibration methods in HIL, SIL and MIL. We see that you have several years of experience within controls and calibration within the automotive industry.

Main responsibilities

* Actively develop your team and individual employees in line with Volvo Car Group's generic and leadership competencies
* Ensure team deliveries, i.e. calibration data and SW functionality to our car programs
* Evaluate performance and set salary setting of direct reporting employees
* Make sure strategic competence development to meet future needs
* Inspire, support and lead members and teams working in project, advanced engineering and process development
* Develop the group's part of the section system strategy
* Over time improve methods and processes to meet company goals of efficiency

Required qualifications

* MSc or several years of relevant experience
* Driver 's license B
* Experience from leading a team either in a line or a project role
* Deep knowledge in combustion engines
* Experience of working in the automotive industry
* Controls and calibration experience preferable in OBD area

* Holistic view but still capable of minding the details
* Technically focus but interested, curious and able to interact with people in all kinds of situations
* Structured and used to summarise and present the status of your work
* History of strong personal drive for results
* History of good social competence and ability to build a strong team / strong collaboration while encouraging and motivating others
* You are hungry for future challenges and development
