Science at the "Hearing and Deafness" (HEAD) graduate school, which forms part
of the Swedish Institute for Disability Research (SIDR), IBL, Section for
Cognition, Development and Disability (CDD). SIDR was established in the year
2000 in collaboration between the universities of Linköping and Örebro, and is
located at IBL, Linköping University. SIDR provides scientific training to PhD

multidisciplinary area spanning faculty boundaries. Scientific training at SIDR
offers doctoral students the opportunity to collaborate in multidisciplinary
groups, develop a cross-disciplinary mind-set and come into contact with the
international research frontier. Duties: The doctoral student will take part
in a research project within the field of cognition, communication and
disability. The specific project will fall within the framework of an
established research programme on "Hearing and Deafness" (HEAD). Two of the

deafness. The other four relate to the study of the effects of hearing
impairment or deafness in adulthood. The doctoral student should focus
principally on the scientific training. However, a doctoral student may engage,
to a limited extent, in teaching, research and administration. Such commitments
may not exceed 20 percent of full working hours before the doctoral degree has
been obtained. Qualifications: Employment as a doctoral student is
conditional on acceptance to the scientific training programme. The basic
qualification for acceptance to the scientific training programme in Disability
Research is a first degree worth at least 180 ECTS, or equivalent knowledge. In
addition, at least 90 ECTS (including an independent report at bachelor level)
is required in a subject of relevance to the field of Disability Research.
LiU continues to develop as an attractive and creative work place
characterized by equal opportunities, and actively promotes diversity and gender
equality. Applications from persons with disabilities are especially welcome.
