Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) is seeking a Director of Publications who will be responsible for the production of print and online publications.

Context
Established in 1966, SIPRI is consistently ranked as one of the world's top think tanks. The institute is dedicated to independent research into peace, conflict and security and is known worldwide for its flagship publication, the SIPRI Yearbook, and its databases. SIPRI is based in Stockholm, and has well-established, on-the-ground partnerships and operational networks across the globe. The staff of SIPRI is international and the working language is English.

The Director of Publications is a senior position within the Institute, and the successful candidate will work closely with the Director of the Institute and the directors of individual research programmes.

The Director of Publications will be responsible for:
• Managing the Editorial and Publications Department as the line manager for a team of five
• Manage the departmental budget and work flow, coordinate workloads, and supervise the work of a team of editors, including full-time staff and external freelance editors
• Advising researchers on the structure and content of publications
• Approve final products before they are printed and distributed
• Working closely with the SIPRI Communications Department to ensure the effective dissemination of SIPRI publications
• Taking responsibility for all aspects of producing the flagship publication of the Institute, the SIPRI Yearbook, as Executive Editor
• Managing and further developing the family of foreign language versions of the Yearbook, which is currently translated into Arabic, Chinese, Russian and Ukrainian
• Managing and further developing the relationship between SIPRI and its publisher, Oxford University Press

Candidates should have the following qualifications:
• A strong and proven research background in the field of international security
• An advanced degree, preferably at the level of PhD, in a relevant field of international security
• Demonstrated ability to manage a highly motivated, dynamic and professional team; strong supervisory and people skills
• Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills, attention to detail and respect for deadlines
• A capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work under pressure of time
• Computer skills necessary for word processing, design and publishing
