We are seeking a dynamic, multilingual Customer Engagement Specialist to join our Customer Engagement team. This is a temporary position, initially for 12 months, to cover for a colleague on parental leave.
Since 1978, UMC has been dedicated to developing, supporting, and expanding the field of pharmacovigilance science and practice.
As a World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborating Centre, we support work around the world to examine the potential adverse effects of medicines and vaccines and contribute to safer, more informed patient care.

About the role The External Engagement department at UMC offers solutions for the secure exchange and global use of pharmacovigilance data. We manage the entire customer journey - from building awareness to ensuring customer retention.
Your responsibilities will include:
Supporting new business opportunities.
- Selling UMC products.
- Strengthening existing relationships to ensure continued use of UMC products.
- Contributing to the development of customer engagement strategies.
- Assisting in the sales process.
- Collaborating with other departments on various projects related to our product offering.
What you will do
Assist customers in selecting the appropriate product for their needs, while building and maintaining strong relationships.
- Highlight the value of our products to promote standardisation and encourage long-term use.
- Coordinate and organise customer-related activities as needed.
- Establish yourself as a partner to customers - not just a vendor - by acting as a resource, sharing networks and contacts, guiding them to relevant business areas, and understanding their motivations and challenges in clinical trials and drug safety.
- Analyse and understand customer needs to identify new opportunities for UMC products.
- Assist the Customer Liaison team in resolving complex customer inquiries.
- Support the Customer Liaison team during the customer renewal process when necessary.
- Provide analytical and administrative support for department- and organisation-wide projects.
Bachelor's degree in business administration or natural sciences (e.g. pharmacy, chemistry, biology, or civil engineering).
- Experience in B2B sales/support and/or in the life sciences industry.
- Experience working on projects and collaborating with clients, partners and/or cross-functional teams.
- Good understanding of MS Office, CRM systems (especially Salesforce), and other relevant software systems.
- Language skills: - English: Fluent - Native proficiency in at least one of the following languages: French, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Spanish, or Portuguese.

Uppsala Monitoring Centre (UMC) is a non-profit foundation established in 1978 through an agreement between the World Health Organization (WHO) and the government of Sweden as a WHO Collaborating Centre for International Drug Monitoring.
UMC is custodian of the WHO global database of adverse event reports for medicines and vaccines and strengthens global safety surveillance through science and innovation, signal analysis and pharmacovigilance tool development, standardisation with the WHODrug dictionary, and education and communication.
UMC's working language is English. We normally apply a probationary period to new appointments.
