Business Development Manager, Stem cells applications

Job Description and Responsibilities

This is an exciting role for a resourceful, ambitious and energetic sales & business development specialist who enjoys leading from the front.

The successful applicant must be able to manage both services and product sales of in vitro products in Pharma and Biotech accounts within the rapidly developing applications of human stem cells for disease modeling, drug screening and toxicology testing. The candidate will analyze, coordinate and pursue business opportunities. Specifically, the candidate will identify new partners/customers and continually develop existing relationships with the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries as well as with Contract Research Organizations (CROs). A strong network in the Pharma/CROs/CMOs industry is a plus.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Responsible for the sales of stem cell services and products to pharma, biotech and CRO accounts.
• Participates in key meetings linked to advanced stem cells research (disease modeling, drug discovery, regenerative medicine etc.
• Demonstrates ability to identify, advance and close new business opportunities by creating and executing a strategic business plan.
• Responsible for developing relationships at all levels of management within industrial accounts.
• Provides timely communication and follow-up to customers; consistently exceeding the customer's expectations.
• Maintain strong knowledge of stem cell products and marketplace including use of stem cells in drug development screening assays.
• Stays up to date on competitive activities and provides feedback to product management and R&D on changes in the industry.
• Acts as company consultant for stem cell products, and provides initial support in addressing sales situations.
• Updates and maintains the customer relationship management (CRM) software tool to ensure full transparency of customer information across the organization.
• Candidate must work collaboratively with the commercial team, product management, applications support, and business development.
• Prepares and presents timely business reviews to management team.
• Participates in regular discussions withglobal business development team by sharing selling tactics, best practices and market feedback.

Experience required

• 3-5 years sales and deal-making experience from the life science sector.
• Experience from negotiating service agreements or R&D collaborations with pharmaceutical companies in particular.
• Experience from generating sales growth in the life science research business (preferably cell based products and services).
• Solid understanding of tactical sales skills (prospecting, qualifying, closing, and growing existing customers) strongly preferred.
• Strong verbal and written English.
• Interpersonal and communication skills as well as strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience selling into multiple levels within an organization (bench scientists, purchasing, directors, VP, CFO/CEO)
• Strong presentation skills.

The position requires 30-40% time in travel, mostly within Europe.

Salary: Based on experience

Location: Takara Bio Europe sites in Gothenburg, Sweden, or in Paris, France are the preferred options, but not a must.
