Overview
Position Title:PYP Single Subject Teacher and/or Fritids Teacher
Programme:PYP (Primary Years Programme,approximately age equivalent to Swedish låg- och mellanstadium) and some MYP (Middle Years Programme,approximately age equivalent to Swedish högstadium)
Start Date: August 1, 2022, or as per agreement

Description of Position:
International School of Karlskrona's (formerly Karlskrona Internationella Grundskola) is an IB Candidate school located in Karlskrona, Sweden. The school caters to international families and offers both the PYP and MYP programmes as well as fritids (after and before school care). The language of instruction is English and all classes, except Swedish, are taught in English. We pride ourselves to have a diverse set of students and teachers. We are on our third year of operation. Classes are steadily growing.
We are now seeking professional and passionate teachers who wish to be a part of the continued development and growth. The successful candidate(s) must have a desire to work within an IB environment and have a thorough understanding of inquiry-based pedagogy and how to teach for conceptual understanding. Experience in inclusive, differentiated instruction in a multi-cultural setting is desirable. Collaboration is key in our environment, and thus, the ideal candidate must want and like to work in a team.
We are looking for one, two, or more people to teach a combination of a few or many of the following:
Fritids
PYP 1-6 Swedish(for native Swedish speakers)
In-class support
PYP 3-6 Wood work and Needle work and/or Maker Space management (jfr "slöjd" el "levande verkstad")
PYP 1-6 and/or MYP 1-4 Performing Arts(including music, dance and drama)
PYP 1-6 and/or MYP 1-4 Visual Arts(including music, dance and drama)
MYP 1-4 Self-study (jfr "läxhjälp")
PYP 1-6 EAL (English as an Additional Language, i.e. English for students new to the language)
Additional duties include:
Weekly collaborative meetings
Creating/Utilizing varied forms of formative and summative assessments to inform teaching and learningpractices
Develop and maintain a positive learning environment
Being professional in your conduct towards students, colleagues, parents and other stakeholders
A commitment to ensure each learner reaches his or her maximum potential by developing skills, understandings, social-emotional management, and academic abilities
A commitment to professional development and school development
Teaches with a trans- or interdisciplinary approach
Demonstrates a constructivist approach to pedagogy, including inquiry-based teaching and learning as well as teaching for conceptual understanding
The desired candidate:
IB PYP or MYP experience is ideal however, a desire to work in an IB environment is a must
Must have a teaching degree and license to teach fritids, primary or middle school
Proactive and open-minded team player embracing change and development in a new and growing IB school
Lifelong learner and internationally-minded
Excellent and fluent, verbal and written, English and Swedish communication skills
In the interest of visa processing time, either is an EU citizen or already fulfills legal requirements to work and live in Sweden
Role-models all IB, Learner Profile traits, such as e.g. being Caring, Open-minded, Inquirer, Reflective, Principled, and a Communicator.
